  • From a Lawyer to a Mountain Nomad: Brown Gal Trekker is Marinel M. de Jesus, Esq. She is a former civil rights attorney in Washington, DC who practiced law for 15 years and discovered during that time her passion for mountain trekking. In 2017, she left her legal career and life in the U.S. completely to pursue a life of a global mountain nomad.

No women guides have ever led the GHT before, so this journey is special for both Marinel (the activist who made this trek happen) and for the guide, who will create history as the first female guide. On some stretches, they will be joined by female porters who have unique challenges in a male-dominated trekking industry as well.

The Upper Dolpo is towards the end of the trek and is considered to be one of the most beautiful and pristine part of the Nepalese Himalayas. The strong Tibetan culture and heartwarming hospitality make it an especially unique experience.

And the best part, there's going to be camping!
